UA’s English Writing Center Offers New Twitter Service to Students Who Have Writing Questions

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Big paper due and stuck on the difference between affect and effect?

No need to stress, The University of Alabama’s English department writing center is now offering students quick answers to their writing and grammar questions through its new service “Tweet at the Writing Center.”

The service allows students to ask writing related questions and receive answers through Twitter.

To participate in the service, students tweet their questions to @UAWritingCenter using the hashtag #helpwritenow.

The categories students can expect to receive help with are

  • Questions about the writing center’s services
  • Citing sources
  • Grammar
  • Writing style
  • All other writing-related matters

Once a question is submitted, a writing staff member will tweet back with advice within four hours.

To promote the new service, the English department is giving away gift cards during the month of April. All UA students who use the new “Tweet at the Writing Center” service during April will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 gift card from the Supe Store.

A winner will be announced every week of April.
