Train Safety Reminder

On Friday, a video made the rounds on social media showing what appears to be students climbing over connections between rail cars and across rail cars. The train had stopped, blocking the intersection.

Climbing between or over rail cars is extremely dangerous. There is not a warning when the train starts. If the train starts to move while climbing over the rails cars, an individual could be severely injured or killed. Climbing over rail equipment is also illegal.

To learn more about making smart decisions around trains and tracks, please visit the Operation Lifesaver website at www.oli.org.

We care about your safety. If you live near the rail tracks, please plan accordingly when walking to and from campus. If a train is blocking the intersection, please wait for the train to clear the intersection and the lights have stopped flashing and the gate is up before crossing the tracks. We want you to get safely to class, even if you are a little late.
