Stacy Alley, theatre and dance, recently presented a Master Class titled “Integrating Breath for the Singing Dancer” at the Musical Theatre Educators Alliance Conference in Oslo, Norway. In addition, she was one of three choreographers chosen to choreograph the Annual International Student Showcase with participants from Europe, Asia, Australia, and throughout North America.  (one of which was UA musical theatre student, Leah Nicoll). Alley serves as the Southeastern U.S. Representative for the organization.

Dr. Safiya George, nursing; and Dr. George Mugoya, counselor education, have been selected for Interdisciplinary Research Leaders, a new program led by the University of Minnesota with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The program is designed to nurture diverse interdisciplinary leaders who conduct and apply high-quality, community-engaged, action-oriented and equity-focused health research. Participants will develop programs that advance health and receive skills through professional coaching, mentoring, networking and an advanced leadership curriculum.

Dr. Lorraine Madway, curator of Special Collections and university archivist at Wichita State University Libraries, has been named as associate dean of Special Collections at The University of Alabama Libraries.

Dr. Gary Moynihan, engineering, recently received the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers’ Fellow Award. This award recognizes outstanding leaders of the profession who have made significant, nationally recognized contributions to industrial and systems engineering. A fellow is the highest classification of IISE membership.
