Al.com – May 10
Whether portraying a version of Dos Equis’ “Most Interesting Man in the World” or threatening a faux Flo that she could spend time “in the hole,” attorney David J. Maloney always made one thing certain with his flashy commercials: He was fed up with drunken drivers. The past 48 hours have been anything but kind to the 49-year-old Navarre, Fla., resident who was arrested early Sunday by an Escambia County, Fla., sheriff deputy on suspicion of DUI … “I can definitely imagine the hit on his image,” said Kenon Brown, assistant professor of public relations at the University of Alabama. “I would be lying if I didn’t say it wouldn’t be hard to shake for him. He ran for governor in 2006 and 2010, but didn’t make it out of the Republican primary either time. Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore speaks to parishoners at The Church of the Apostles in Georgia. In 2003, the Christian conservative was removed from the same position by the Court of Judiciary over his refusal to remove a Ten Commandments monument … Susan Pace Hamill, who has observed Moore’s career for more than two decades as a researcher and law professor at the University of Alabama, said Moore’s actions in the two cases are consistent, but still wrong.
