The Tapping on the Mound ceremony, the culmination of Honors Week, will be held Friday, April 8, at 1:30 p.m. Classes will be dismissed for the day.
The Office of the President, the Office of the Dean of Students and the Student Government Association invite everyone to a memorial service for the following former UA students: Nicolas Carlson Cyr, Rodney Lane Lord, Bradley “Brad” Jamar Morris, Malcolm Isiah Stephen, Jackson “Jack” Tyler Tucker, Kenneth Lee Ulmer and Joseph Andrew “Drew” Wallace. The service will be held April 12 from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Denny Chimes.

The Capstone Creed, a pledge made at convocation by first-year students at the start of the academic year, has been revised. The updated version reflects the importance of promoting equity and inclusion on campus.
Weather permitting, the University will test UA Alerts, the emergency public address system and digital signage at 11:55 a.m. the first Wednesday of each month. The test will last approximately 30 seconds and should not be disruptive. Immediately following at noon, the Tuscaloosa Emergency Management Agency will test the outdoor tornado sirens, weather permitting.
The Office of Information Technology warns everyone to be cautious of emails or phone calls claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS does not send emails or make phone calls to taxpayers regarding problems with taxpayers’ taxes or tax returns. If a problem exists, the IRS will notify a taxpayer by letter sent through the U.S. Postal Service. OIT recommends that such emails be deleted and phone calls ignored. APPLICATIONS
Applications are still available for membership in Al’s Pals, a program in which members serve as mentors to students in local elementary schools. Applicant interviews have started and will continue through April 22.
Officer applications for UA’s Be the Match on Campus organization are due April 18 at noon. Members raise awareness of the national bone-marrow registry by hosting drives and other events.
