DEADLINES

Priority renewal date for registered campus organizations for fall time period, May 31
Student Opinions of Instruction course-evaluation surveys, May 1

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Student Account Services reminds students that payment in full or participation in a payment plan is required before noon on May 10 for the summer term. Schedules for students who have not made payment arrangements by the deadline will be canceled.

If you have not already done so, log in via myBama and complete the following:

  • Set up your student profile, which includes the ability to add alternative email addresses and the ability to opt in for text messages.
  • Go to the eRefund tab and set up your direct deposit. Direct deposit is now required for any refunds. If you had direct deposit before, you will need to add it in the new system.
  • Set up authorized users that you want to grant access to your account, even if they existed in the old system.

Payment plans will now be available within the new billing system once the billing period opens for each semester. If you would like to participate, you must enroll each semester. You will also be able to store payment methods for your convenience.

For more information, visit Student Account Services at https://studentaccounts.ua.edu.

Student Opinions of Instruction course-evaluation surveys for Spring Semester 2016 began April 18 and will continue to May 1 for most of the campus. Surveys for classes in the School of Social Work run until May 8. SOI allows students to confidentially rate their UA learning experiences and encourages feedback about their courses and instructors. Confidential reports of survey results are provided to UA faculty and administrators after all grades are submitted. Student ratings are important because they help both the faculty and the administration plan for future improvements. Visit the SOI website or send an email to soi@ua.edu for more information.

Students can now check out laptops and Chromebooks for 72 hours at the circulation desk on the second floor of Gorgas Library. Anyone checking out laptops must have a valid UA Action Card. This pilot program continues through the end of August. More information: Laptop Computers Policy.

The Capstone Creed, a pledge made at convocation by first-year students at the start of the academic year, has been revised. The updated version reflects the importance of promoting equity and inclusion on campus.

APPLICATIONS

Registered student organizations on campus must file renewal applications annually during either the fall time period (March 15-Oct. 15) or the spring time period (Nov. 15-Feb. 15). All organizations that have not completed the renewal process by the priority deadline for their time periods will be removed from the online directory. The priority deadline for fall organizations is May 31. Organizations must also submit new Child Protection and Hazing Policy forms to the Office of Student Involvement at 3610 Ferguson Student Center before the renewal application can be reviewed. If you are unsure of your time period or would like to change it based on your new officer-selection period, contact the Office of Student Involvement at sileadership@sa.ua.edu.

Applications are still available for membership in Al’s Pals, a program in which members serve as mentors to students in local elementary schools. Applicant interviews have started and will continue through Friday, April 22.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Are you interested in being a volunteer baby sitter for students with children during the summer or fall 2016 semesters? Sitters for Service will hold an information session on Wednesday, April 20, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in 3104 Ferguson Student Center. More information: Stephanie Charles at sittersforservice@ua.edu.
