UA’s Campus Mail Service Recognized for ‘Best Practice’

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama’s Campus Mail Service has been selected as one of five finalists in the 2016 Southern Association of College and University Business Officers Best Practice competition.

UA joins the University of Georgia, the University of Texas – San Antonio, the Kentucky Community and Technical College System and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College as finalists.

The University is being recognized for its centralized campus mail system.

“The number of packages we receive on a daily basis can range widely, depending on the time of year,” said Mike Butts, director of Campus Mail Service.  “Some days the package volume may be less than 1,000 while other days the package volume could be over 2,000. We’ve had visitors from other colleges and universities tour our operations here at UA, and they are amazed at how efficiently we can process packages for our students.”

The winner of the competition will be announced at the annual meeting of the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers, or SACUBO, in Asheville, North Carolina, in April. The five finalists will present their practices during the award luncheon, and a Grand Finalist will be selected.
