EVENTS

The Student Government Association invites students to Jobs 101 today at 6 p.m. in the Ferguson Student Center theater. Participants will hear from a panel of professionals about life after graduation. Topics will include internships, graduate school, interviews and résumé building.

Students can explore available study-abroad options at the Study Abroad Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the second floor of the Ferguson Student Center. More information: Chad Berry at chad.berry@ua.edu or 348-5256.

The Student Government Association Lobby Board is sponsoring a drive in which participants will write letters to legislators. The event will be held Feb. 16, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., in the lobby of Lloyd Hall. Greek points will be offered. More information: iveybest@gmail.com.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Students are invited to complete the Student Experience in the Research University survey. Information from the SERU survey will be used to improve existing student instruction and services and to create new services to enhance the student experience at UA.

Students are invited to share their suggestions for moving the University forward. Complete the UA Strategic Plan Survey, submit ideas to the Strategic Planning Council using the online form, or send a private email to stratplan@ua.edu. Bell concerning the University’s strategic planning process.

The University of Alabama’s Academic Advising Association invites students to nominate their academic advisers for the 2015-16 Outstanding Commitment to Advising Award. Career fairs will be held in February and March. Stop by the Career Center at 3400 Ferguson Student Center on Wednesday, Feb. 10, or Thursday, Feb. 11, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for a quick review of your résumé and enjoy a sweet treat at the same time. Applications for the A-Team are due Feb. 15 by 2 p.m. The A-Team is a group of student leaders who serve UA by supporting new students during Camp 1831. More information: Office of First Year Experience and Parent Programs at 348-8404.

The University Stewards is accepting applications for new membership. University Stewards help UA admissions counselors recruit top students from around the nation by creating personal relationships with prospective students and their families. Applications for the International Peer Advisory Council are due Feb. 26 by 4:45 p.m. IPAC members assist international students adjust to UA life.

Applications for UA Away scholarships are available online and due March 1 by 11:59 p.m. Students interested in studying, working or serving away from the UA campus in the summer or fall of 2016 are encouraged to apply. More information: https://sa.ua.edu/resources/student-scholarships-awards.

Applications for the 2016-17 cycle of the Honors College service-learning course Medicine and Community are due March 4. All upcoming sophomores, juniors and seniors who are interested in medicine and have at least 3 hours of Honors Foundations credits may apply. The due date for all applications is Friday, March 4. In addition to this application link, students may log in to mybama and access the application via the “Honors Involvement Application” link in the Honors College banner under the Academics tab.

The Office of Student Involvement is accepting applications for the Source Board of Governors and Involvement Geniuses. These leadership positions help students get involved with campus organizations and then provide those organizations with essential resources. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Use your programming knowledge and earn Service Learning Pro hours at the same time by volunteering with Girls Who Code, a nationwide program to educate young women and men in computer science.
