ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Alabama football team will be honored for its national championship with a parade on Saturday, Jan. 23. The parade will start at 10 a.m. on University Boulevard at Denny Chimes and will conclude at the Walk of Champions with a ceremony on the top steps of the North End Zone entrance to Bryant-Denny Stadium.

University Boulevard between Hackberry Lane and Campus Drive West will close from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Traffic can navigate around the road closure using the north side of campus where McCorvey Drive connects Hackberry Lane and Campus Drive West. Parking will be available on the west side of campus in all the West Commuter parking lots near ten Hoor Hall.

Open enrollment for the University-sponsored health insurance plan for students has been extended to Feb. 10. All graduate students taking 3 or more credit hours and undergraduate students taking 6 or more credit hours are eligible to participate. Enroll at https://www.uhcsr.com/ua. As part of the process for crafting the University’s strategic plan, all faculty, staff and students are encouraged to share their suggestions for moving the University forward. Complete the UA Strategic Plan Survey, submit ideas to the Strategic Planning Council using the online form, or send a private email to stratplan@ua.edu. STUDENT AFFAIRS

Applications for Capstone Men and Women are due Jan. 29 by noon in 284 Rose Administration Building. A mandatory convocation will be held on Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. in 120 Farrah Hall to discuss the selection process. More information and application: http://cmw.ua.edu/#try-out.

Students who want to seek a Student Government Association executive position or senate seat for Spring Semester 2016 can access the link to the Statement of Candidacy and Intent at http://vote.ua.edu under the Forms tab. The deadline for all applications is Feb. 4 at 6 p.m.

Applications to become a Peer Leader are due by 5 p.m. on Feb. 5. Peer Leaders mentor to first-year students and help facilitate courses alongside faculty. More information: fye@ua.edu or 348-8404.

FRATERNITY AND SORORITY LIFE

EVENTS

Spring Get On Board 2016 will be held today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Ferguson Student Center. Learn about campus organizations and enjoy free food, performances, a DJ, special guests, giant games and more. Free Steel City Pops go to the first 300 attendees.

The XXXI and UA AAUW will host a leadership workshop for female UA students on Jan. 25, beginning with a reception at 6:30 p.m. in Russell Hall. Participants will learn about professional etiquette, networking, internships, campus leadership and more. More information: hdlinday@crimson.ua.edu.

The Coordinating Council for Honor Societies will host its annual Honor Society Preview Day on Jan. 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the second floor tabling area of the Ferguson Student Center. In addition, representatives from the UA Career Center, the UA Writing Center, the Center for Service and Leadership, and the Office of Student Involvement will be present to assist students who want to improve their application profiles.
