The annual Martin Luther King Jr. march, sponsored by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and co-sponsored by the UA Black Faculty and Staff Association, is expected to affect pedestrian and vehicular traffic on Monday, Jan. 18. The rally begins at 11 a.m. at Malone Hood Plaza. Tentative plans have the walk beginning at 11:30 a.m., moving from the plaza toward downtown Tuscaloosa, culminating at Tuscaloosa City Hall. Both westbound and eastbound lanes along the parade route will be subject to opening and closing, depending on the crowd and roadway conditions at any given time. Pedestrians and drivers are urged to exercise caution if traveling in the area at the time.
