UA music school to celebrate MLK with jazz quintet concert

The University of Alabama School of Music will celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with a performance by the Chris Kozak Jazz Quintet, with Eric Essix on guitar, on Saturday, Jan. 14 in the Moody Music Building Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m.
The concert highlights the 2012 Martin Luther King Jr. Realizing the Dream celebration, a series of special activities honoring King.

University of Alabama to host economic outlook conference

The University of Alabama’s Center for Business and Economic Research is holding its annual Economic Outlook Conference next week in Montgomery. Speakers at the Jan. 12 at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel will include UA’s dean of the College of Commerce, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s senior vice president and director of research and other economic experts.  To register, call 205-348-6191.

Nano science holds promise

The four-day international conference being hosted by Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology (SNIST) in collaboration with the University of South Africa (UNISA) witnessed an overwhelming response from the foreign delegates where they discussed on the development of nano science and technology and its ramifications in life sciences, engineering, information technology and health sciences. . . . Dr. R.G. Reddy, chairman, department of metallurgy & materials science, University of Alabama, USA, in his address explained the thermodynamics, heat transfer and other characteristics which make the nano-materials superior due to enormous size effect.

UA cheerleaders to Perform in Exhibition

The Pleasant Grove cheerleaders will be hosting an event and exhibition At tonight 6pm at Pleasant Grove High School. The University of Alabama cheerleaders and Shelton State cheerleaders will be performing along with Pleasant Grove varsity cheerleaders. They will each perform their national competition routines for anyone that would like to attend. It’s open to everyone.

Alabama fan re-creates Bryant Denny Stadium out of gingerbread

One Jefferson City family bleeds red for the Crimson Tide of the University of Alabama, which will take on Louisiana State on Monday night. KCRG’s Mark Savit shows us how the Evans family created a special tribute in preparation for the big game on this week’s mid-Missouri traveler. When Jack Evans said he would make a gingerbread replica of the University of  Alabama’s football stadium, his wife, Rosie, and his daughters laughed it off. It wasn’t a joke to Jack. After researching the stadium’s dimensions and colors, Jack surprised his family by re-creating the stadium of his favorite football team.
