Druid City Arts Festival Highlights Area’s Music; UA Co-Sponsors

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama’s Creative Campus Initiative presents the first Druid City Arts Festival Saturday, March 27, on the City Fest Lot downtown.

It will run from 2 to 9 p.m., and it is free and open to the public.

The festival will feature live music, artists, food and beverage vendors, and children’s activities. Activities will center on a main stage with performances by six bands representing a range of musical genres with a focus on local and regional original music. Genres include Southern rock, bluegrass, hip-hop, funk and even electronica.

Band lineup:

* 2 p.m.: The Alabama Blues Project Advance Band

* 3 p.m.: Sparrow + the Ghost

* 4 p.m.: Kate Taylor

* 5 p.m.: The Blue Party

* 6 p.m.: The Hypsys

* 7:30 p.m. Act of Congress

The all-ages festival will be rain or shine, free and open to the public. Artists are subject to change The festival is sponsored by the city of Tuscaloosa, Harrison Galleries, Little Willies, Letters, Velo City Pro Cycle, Sams, The Booth and The University of Alabama’s Creative Campus, Student Government Association, Housing & Residential Communities, Blount Undergraduate Initiative, New College, Honors College, Bama Dining, University Union and private donations.

The city of Tuscaloosa and Tuscaloosa Convention and Visitors Bureau are taking part in the state of Alabama board of tourism’s celebration of “Small Towns and Downtowns” by urging people to Come Home to Tuscaloosa on March 26-28. Other events planned for the same weekend in conjunction with the festival are the CHOM Rubber Duck Derby, Tour de Tuscaloosa and the Black Warrior Storytelling Festival.
