Huntsville Student Named IFC President at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Bart Siniard, a junior from Huntsville and member of Kappa Alpha Order, has been elected president of The University of Alabama Interfraternity Council.

Siniard, who was the vice president of judicial affairs for the IFC, said he feels confident in his new role. “As vice president of judicial affairs I got to know most of the presidents of the fraternities and I feel that is going to help me be successful as president,” Siniard said.

His administration is already working toward achieving several goals. They met recently to discuss ways of making the IFC more helpful to the fraternities. Siniard hopes to make the rush process more organized than in the past.

Academic success is a major goal that Siniard hopes the IFC will achieve. “The last four or so semesters out of five, the fraternities have had a higher GPA than the all-male student population,” Siniard said, “I want to continue that trend by giving IFC fraternities incentives to make their members do well in the classroom.”

Siniard is also looking at ways to unite the entire Greek system. Siniard has started plans for an event that would bring the Interfraternity Council, Alabama Panhellenic Association and the National Pan-Hellenic Council together.

“I think it is important that we foster Greek unity at UA, because we all have similar goals and want our organizations to be successful.”
