TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team will play the Canadian National Team Friday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. at the UA Student Recreation Center.

The third-ranked Crimson Tide women are currently undefeated with a 6-0 record. UA’s opponent, the Canadian National Team, is the reigning World Champion team.

The UA team competes in the women’s division of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association and will play a total of 30 games this season before traveling to the Women’s National Championship Tournament in Champaign, Ill., on March 1.

“These are the same players that just competed against our U.S. National Team in the Pan Am Games in Brazil this summer,” said Margaret Stran, head coach of the UA women’s team. “It is a real honor that the Canadians would travel here to play at the University of Alabama. We will have our hands full, but it is a nice compliment to our program that they believe we can give them a good game.”

The game against the Canadian team is the first in a round robin tournament that also includes the Denver Rolling Nuggets and Dallas Lady Mavericks. The Alabama Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team will also play in the tournament on Saturday. All games will be played at the Student Recreation Center and admission is free.
