UA Students Among Participants in Annual M.B.A. Week

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Activities for M.B.A. Week 2007 include a golf tournament at The North River Yacht Club, a professional development wine tasting at The University Club, a paintball tournament, a “Texas hold ‘em” poker tournament and several luncheons.

University of Alabama M.B.A. students annually participate in a week of activities known as M.B.A. Week to raise M.B.A. program awareness throughout the community. Many activities are within the University, but venues throughout the Tuscaloosa area are also included.

This year’s M.B.A. Week will be April 9-14. While the focus of M.B.A. Week is current students, several events also include both alumni and faculty. Many University of Alabama M.B.A. alumni have been invited to the M.B.A. Week luncheons where they can share some of their real world experience with this year’s M.B.A. class. Students will also be able to show their appreciation to many of the University’s professors through a faculty lunch hosted by the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration.

The paintball and poker tournaments are open to both M.B.A. students and professors. These events will provide students with the opportunity to socialize with their professors and peers outside the classroom in friendly competition.

Proceeds from the poker tournament will be donated to the Special Needs Classroom at Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa. Proceeds from the golf tournament will be used to provide scholarships for both current and incoming students.

M.B.A. Week is intended to promote the M.B.A. Program by establishing its presence within the community. M.B.A. Week seeks to foster relationships essential to The University of Alabama’s M.B.A. Program by bringing together individuals important to the program in the past, the present and the future.

Forbes magazine recently ranked The University of Alabama’s Manderson Graduate School of Business 40th among public M.B.A. programs nationwide. This ranking places the program in the top 10 percent nationally. The Princeton Review currently ranks the graduate school in the top 10 nationally in three of 11 categories: fourth for campus facilities, fifth for quality of professors and eighth for administration.
