Walker Elected UA SGA President

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — R.B. Walker, a student at The University of Alabama from Montgomery, has been elected president of the UA Student Government Association for the 2007-2008 term.

Some 4,949 total votes were cast in the election that was held March 6-7.

Walker received 3,528 votes to defeat challenger Robert L. Harris III.

Other executive officers elected include:

-Executive vice president – Madeline Barter of Mobile

-Executive secretary – Christy Roach of Trussville

-Vice president for academic affairs – Matthew S. Wisda of Huntsville

-Vice president for external affairs – Britney Mitchell of Mountain Brook

-Vice president for financial affairs – Chip Groeschell of Memphis, Tenn.

-Vice president for student affairs – Cason M. Kirby of Gadsden

Students who won seats in the SGA Senate include:

College of Arts and Sciences – Kendra N. Key, Amanda M. Minor, Addie Mancuso, Allyson Browning, Andrea David, Jordan Loebel, Jake Burchfield, William Bloom, James Stuckey, Todd Smitherman, Clay Loftin and Joe Fine. (A runoff election for the final A&S SGA Senate seat will be held between Andrew Harris Smith and Stan Ingram on Tuesday, March 27 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. in the Ferguson Center.)

College of Communication and Information Sciences – Katie Lynn McInnish, Hailey Lann, Midd Read and Angela Lynn Odlum.

College of Commerce and Business Administration – Wade Smith, Robert Lister Crosby Jr., Brandon Clark, Amy Moultrie, Ted Glen Achorn Jr., Jack Morgan, Will Evans, Allen Ross, Michael Dodson and John William Morris.
