UA Senior Tabbed for National Lodging Conference

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Lacey Watts of Northport, a University of Alabama senior majoring in restaurant, hotel and meetings management, has been selected as UA’s student representative to attend the “Lodging Management Students to National Industry Conferences” program in Phoenix Sept. 18-21.

The University of Alabama was one of only 10 hospitality programs nationwide selected to send a representative to this conference, sponsored by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation.

“Our program is pleased to have been selected for this honor and is thrilled that one of its outstanding students, Lacy Watts, will represent the program and The University of Alabama. She is an outstanding student academically and demonstrates outstanding managerial and leadership potential,” said Dr. Roy Maize, chair of the restaurant, hotel and meetings management program at UA.

Watts has completed two internship experiences with the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Sandestin, Fla.

Student representatives selected must be dedicated to a continuing career in the lodging industry; have a high level of scholastic achievement and participate in industry-related activities and industry work experience; and have the ability to handle themselves in a mature manner in a schedule that combines participation with high-level industry people on a one-to-one basis and in a social atmosphere.
