SEVERE WEATHER ADVISORY: Update on Hurricane Dennis

July 8, 2005, 4:00 p.m.

The University of Alabama’s Emergency Response Group continues to monitor the projected path of Hurricane Dennis and the potential for severe weather in our area. As a precautionary measure, any camps or conferences scheduled for check-in or set to begin this weekend on campus are postponed through the weekend (until the weather situation can be evaluated Sunday). The Emergency Response Group will advise via the Web site www.ua.edu and state media if further schedule changes are needed Monday, July 11. Campers or conference attendees should consult their event sponsor if they have questions about rescheduling. Students, faculty and staff should consult the Web site or listen to local radio and television broadcasts if severe weather is an issue and closings are possible Monday. In the interest of travel safety, Summer session II orientation, scheduled for Monday, has been postponed until Tuesday. The 180 students scheduled for orientation will be accommodated on Tuesday. Currently, classes are still scheduled to begin Tuesday and faculty will be asked to work with the students who will be participating in orientation.
