Graham Receives 2005 Alumni Association Student Award

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Courtney Hummer Graham of Tuscaloosa has been named recipient of The University of Alabama Alumni Student Award for 2005.

Graham, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering, has received numerous honors while attending UA, but her most notable work has been her research involving the stability of projectiles in sand and soil targets. This research has earned Graham a NASA Space Grant Scholar Fellowship and the McWane Honors Fellowship for Undergraduate Research.

In Graham’s four years at UA, she has also been honored as the president and secretary of the Golden Key International Honor Society, for which she received the Outstanding Officer/Leader of a University-Wide Honorary Award. Along with serving as an Ambassador of the College of Engineering, Graham is a member the Computer-Based Honors Program, Mortar Board, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Pi Tau Sigma Mechanical Engineering Honor Society, and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.

The National Alumni Association honors two outstanding seniors each year who exemplify the spirit of character and achievement while students at the University of Alabama. The Alumni Student Award honors one male and one female who have excelled in academics and extra-curricular activities, shown strength of character and maturity, and displayed exceptional hospitality toward guests and friends of the University.
