American Cancer Society Relay for Life Event Set at UA

relayforlifeTUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The public is invited to learn more about the American Cancer Society Relay for Life on Thursday, Jan. 20, at 8 p.m. in 301 Ferguson Center. Guest speaker will be Mark Gottfried, UA men’s basketball coach.

Relay for Life is the largest cancer fund raiser in the nation. Held in more than 4,200 communities nationwide last year, the event brings participants together to raise money for cancer research, education, advocacy and patient support programs.

The 2004 Relay for Life at The University of Alabama raised more than $34,000 for the American Cancer Society. The 2005 Relay for Life event at UA is set for April 8.

“We’re excited about our plans for 2005 and look forward to having new teams and participants join us,” said Adam Burns, event chair. “This kick off is just the beginning of great things to come.”
