UA Student Group Sponsors Holiday Drive for Tuscaloosa Family Resource Center

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama College of Communication and Information Sciences Student Executive Council is sponsoring a holiday donation drive for the Tuscaloosa Family Resource Center now through Dec. 17.

The TFRC is requesting items including: books, crayons, board games, puzzles, toys, sports equipment, educational supplies, diapers and other toiletries for babies, radios, watches, inexpensive jewelry and monetary donations.

Donations can be made at Reese Phifer Hall Tisch Student Services Center, located on the corner of Colonial Drive and University Drive on the UA campus.

“The TFRC provides a much needed service for the community,” said Bobby Puppione, SEC president and C&IS senior from Castro Valley, Calif. “The holiday season is particularly hard on the center as they try to help as many needy families as possible. We wanted to do whatever we could with our resources to make this holiday season a happy memory for less fortunate families in town.”

Since opening in June 1999, the TFRC has helped many local families by offering support services that provide skills and resources needed to improve a family’s quality of life, prepare their children for success and assist each individual in reaching his or her potential for self-sufficiency.
