SAA Named Student Organization of the Month by CCSO at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Coordinating Council for Student Organizations proudly announces that the UA Student Alumni Association has been named the Student Organization of the Month for October.

SAA serves as a liaison between UA alumni and current students. SAA also functions as a support group for the National Alumni Association by providing students, faculty, administrators and alumni with programs and projects that are beneficial to the UA campus and the Tuscaloosa community.

SAA reaches out to the community through service projects such as Beat Auburn- Beat Hunger, Books for Baghdad, Toys for Tots and by regularly assisting the Tuscaloosa Family Resource Center.

In addition, SAA is active in the Alumni Association’s student recruitment program, Discovering Bama. The program links prospective students with current students who are interested in the same major or campus activities. Several current SAA members learned about SAA when they visited the campus through the Discovering Bama program.

SAA’s next event is Capstone Casino on Friday, Feb. 25, 2005 from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Bryant Conference Center. Tickets are $15 each or $25 for a couple. All proceeds go to the Student Alumni Association Leadership Scholarship for UA students.

SAA is one of the many student organizations that will be showcased at CCSO’s Spring Get on Board Day on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Ferguson Center Ballroom.
