UA’s Paul W. Bryant Museum Offers “Crimson Classics” Series

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Paul W. Bryant Museum at The University of Alabama will present the first installment of its “Crimson Classics” series on the University’s WVUA-7 television station on Sunday, Dec. 5 at 3 p.m. The one-hour broadcast is the first in a series highlighting some of the most exciting victories in the history of Crimson Tide football.

The first broadcast, titled “Victory in the Swamp,” details the 1999 Alabama-Florida overtime game in Gainesville, Fla. In addition to plays from the game, interviews with players and media personalities will help tell the story. Featured players Shaun Alexander, Andrew Zow, Antonio Carter, Marvin Constant and Chris Samuels will give insight to the victory.

Gary Harris, sports anchor for WVUA, is the host of “Crimson Classics,” which is produced by the Bryant Museum in cooperation with the UA Center for Public Television and Radio (CPTR).

“CPTR’s experience in producing documentaries was a perfect fit for this series,” said CPTR Director Elizabeth Brock. “Our producers have expertise in telling great stories well, and these games certainly have some great stories.”

DVDs of the first “Crimson Classics” broadcast will go on sale Monday, Dec. 6 at the Bryant Museum. The DVDs will include extended interview segments, the radio broadcast of the game and photographs – all features not seen on the broadcast version. DVDs are $24.95 each plus tax and shipping.

“These DVDs will make great holiday gifts for Bama fans,” said Ken Gaddy, Bryant Museum director. “These are brand new DVDs that no fan will already have, and the DVD version offers many extras that will not be shown on the television broadcast.”
