UA Women’s Resource Center to Sponsor Essay Contest for Women’s History Month

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama’s Women’s Resource Center (WRC) is sponsoring its annual essay contest in conjunction with Women’s History Month.

The contest is open to all UA students. The deadline for entries is Friday, Feb. 22, at 4:30 p.m. The theme for this year’s essay entries is “Women Sustaining the American Spirit.” Because of recent events and the renewed interest in patriotism in the United States, the WRC believes this will be an excellent way to recognize accomplishments by females in this country.

The essay must by typed and 250-500 words long. Finished essays can be brought to the WRC, located on the third floor of the Russell Student Health Center, or e-mailed to lkennedy@sa.ua.edu. The winning essay will be published in the WRC’s quarterly newsletter, Our Voice, and the winner will receive a prize.

The WRC was established at UA in 1993. It provides outreach, services and advocacy to empower women and to encourage their full, active and equal participation in the University community.

For more information about the essay contest or the WRC’s services, call 205/348-5040.
