UA Circle K to Hold Annual Luminary Display Sunday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Students and community members are invited to see The University of Alabama Quad by candlelight Sunday, Dec. 2, from 5-10 p.m. when UA Circle K will host its 27th annual holiday luminary display.

UA President Andrew Sorensen and UA head football coach Dennis Franchione will arrive at 5 p.m. to help light candles.

Denny Chimes will play Christmas music during the luminary display.

The annual event helps raise contributions for charity and community groups. Money is raised through business sponsors and private donations. Circle K members will collect donations at a table on the Quad near Denny Chimes.

The money raised this year will benefit the William D. Partlow Development Center, a residential mental retardation facility serving 24 counties in west and central Alabama. The money will be used to help build a heated swimming pool for physical therapy.

The Circle K service club is the college branch of Kiwanis International. The organization is open to all undergraduate and graduate UA students. The club was named Outstanding UA Service Organization for 2000.
