UA Astronomers Hold Public Sky Viewings in December

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Visitors can, weather permitting, use a University of Alabama telescope in Gallelee Hall to get a closer look at Saturn on Friday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Raymond White, professor of physics and astronomy, will speak at the event.

On Friday, Dec. 14, from 3-4:30 p.m., visitors also will have an opportunity to view a partial solar eclipse using the University’s telescope. Dr. Bill Keel, professor of astronomy, will speak about the eclipse.

Most sessions use the 10-inch refracting telescope located in Gallalee’s dome.
