TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Sarah Moody Gallery of Art within the University of Alabama’s College of Arts and Sciences will present “Ilona Malka Rich: Size 6″ Oct. 26 through Nov. 25.
The public is invited to attend a free opening night reception, Friday, Oct. 26, from 6-8 p.m.
Rich creates work, which is in her words “a study of excess.” The New York artist combines genetic engineering, runway fashion, kitsch, and sociopolitical commentary in work that is eye-popping, surreal, and fantastic. Representational works from Rich’s recent New York exhibition “Size 6” create an opportunity for gallery visitors to enter a topsy-turvy environment they won’t soon forget.
The Sarah Moody Gallery of Art is located in 103 Garland Hall on the UA campus. Funding support for the gallery is provided by the department of art, the Friends of the Gallery, and the College of Arts & Sciences. Gallery hours are 9a.m.- 4:30 p.m. weekdays, and 2-5 p.m. Sundays. Admission to the gallery is free.
