UA Alumni Association to Sponsor ‘Beat Tennessee’ Pep Rally and Block Party

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Tuscaloosa County Chapter of The University of Alabama National Alumni Association will sponsor a “Beat Tennessee” Pep Rally and Block Party on Friday, Oct. 19, in Tuscaloosa.

The event will be staged on the historic “Strip” on University Boulevard, just below the Sigma Nu fraternity house. The pep rally is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. Bama’s 1990s quarterback standout Jay Barker and Scott Moore of WYDE 850 AM Radio of Birmingham will serve as emcees.

The University’s Million Dollar Band, Alabama Cheerleaders and Big Al will perform during the pep rally, and the Alabama Dance Team will perform earlier at 6:15 p.m. Tuscaloosa mayor Al Dupont, UA President Andrew Sorensen and other University representatives will join in the pep rally.

After the pep rally, there will be a short break and the band “Chevy 6” will play from approximately 7:30-10:30 p.m., when the Block Party is scheduled to end.

The event is hosted by the Tuscaloosa County UA alumni chapter and is sponsored by Coca-Cola and Radio South.
