UA Students & Staff Receive Honors At Media Convention

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Nine students and two staff members involved in student media at The University of Alabama participated in the fall 2000 College Media

Convention in Washington, D.C., co-sponsored by the Associated Collegiate Press and College Media Advisers Inc.

The students were Terry Siggers of Fosters, station manager, and Natalie Hathcox of Vestavia, fromWVUA-FM student radio station; Noelle Dolbare of Montgomery, editor, Ashley Dickson of Pensacola, Fla., and Donnie Smith of Tuscaloosa, from the Corolla yearbook; and Joseph Bryant of Birmingham (zip code 3216), editor, Luke Connell of Cullman, Laura Rowland of Pelham, and Dan Murphy of Tuscaloosa from The Crimson White student newspaper.

Staff members that participated were Paul Isom and Stacy Jones of the UA Office of Student Media. Isom, director of the Office of Student Media, received a citation for exemplary service for programming the most improved workshop sequence of the convention. As chair of the photojournalism committee, Isom coordinated the participation of several of the nation’s top photojournalists for the convention.

The Crimson White also received an honor as a “notable entry” in the Best of Collegiate Design awards for the cover of last year’s millennium special section, designed by Jennifer Ackerman, of Sarasota, Fla.
