Don Hays Named Director Of Development For UA College Of Arts & Sciences

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Tuscaloosa businessman Don Hays has been appointed director of development for the College of Arts and Sciences at The University of Alabama, according to Pam Parsons, assistant vice president for development in UA’s Office of University Advancement.

Hays will direct major gift development and alumni relations for the College, the University’s largest division with 6,000 students, 320 faculty and over 35,000 living alumni.

For the last nine years, Hays worked as a consultant for academic and economic agencies in Alabama. From 1986-1992, he held positions at the University including director of alumni, assistant vice president for development and acting vice president for development. He has also served as executive director for the Tuscaloosa County Industrial Development Authority, as a development representative for the Alabama Development Office, and as an economic development manager for the Athens-Limestone County Chamber of Commerce.

“Don’s extensive experience in development and his knowledge and love of the University and the Tuscaloosa community will serve the University well as we seek private support for major projects and work to build endowments in the College of Arts and Sciences,” said Parsons.

A native of Athens, Ala., Hays holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from UA.
