UA Law School Classes Of 1950, 1951 Create Scholarship Fund

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama School of Law classes of 1950 and 1951 recently pledged nearly $100,000 to create the Class of 1950 and 1951 Endowed Scholarship Fund in commemoration of the 50th reunions of both classes.

The fund will be used to provide one or more partial or full scholarships to academically deserving students each year. These scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the scholarship committee at the UA School of Law.

The project was led by J. Allen Reynolds, class of 1950, and E. Ray Large, class of 1951. “It was an inspired, appropriate idea for an endowed scholarship to express our appreciation of the value of the law degree in our lives,” Reynolds said. “I am grateful and proud that the generous response of the 54 class members and one generous non-class member now totals $96,700. I still hope we will meet or exceed our goal of $100,000. It ought not to be difficult.”

The classes of 1950 and 1951 celebrated their reunions at the University Club on Nov. 11. Pledges and gifts ranging from $25 to $6,000 continue to augment the scholarship fund.
