Diabetes Support Group To Meet Friday At UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Adults with Type II diabetes are invited to join a support group that is meeting Friday, Dec. 8, from noon-1 p.m. at the Capstone Medical Center carrel room on The University of Alabama campus.

Margaret P. Garner, director of Nutrition Education and Services at Capstone Medical Center, will discuss “Lower the Fat and Keep the Taste in Holiday Cooking.”

The group will determine its own meeting schedule, but “Capstone Medical Center wants to enhance opportunities for our patients to succeed at self-management and health risk reduction,” according to Garner, the medical center’s nutritionist and a sponsor of the support group.

Capstone Medical Center doctors, nurses, the nutritionist and social worker will be available as needed to provide patient education at regular intervals. Please call Gwen Wade at 205/348-2880 for more information on the support group.
