UA Law School Receives Scholarship Endowment

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Ellingson Endowed Scholarship fund at The University of Alabama School of Law more than doubled recently with the second major gift from Chester W. Ellingson Jr. since the fund’s creation in 1994.

The fund, now worth more than $600,000, awards several scholarships annually to UA law students based on academic merit and financial need. Preference is given to students with experience in the business and corporate sector.

Ken Randall, dean of the UA School of Law who has visited Ellingson in Minnesota and Tuscaloosa, said, “Mr. Ellingson’s generosity helps our Law School recruit and support outstanding students to remain in Alabama for their legal education. The Ellingson Endowed Scholarship is making a positive impact on Alabama’s only public law school.”

A member of the Law School Class of 1943, Ellingson is owner and chairman of Reese Enterprises Inc., manufacturers of building hardware and plastic extrusions in Rosemount, Minn.
