Homecoming Court Announced At UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The 2000 University of Alabama homecoming court was selected Tuesday, Oct. 24, in a general student election on the UA campus.

Members of the homecoming court and their hometowns are: Jessica Carmichael of Oakman, LaDonna M. Carpenter of Huntsville, Joni Crenshaw of Meridian, Miss., Amanda Ellis of Gulf Shores, and Holley Johnson of Birmingham (zip code 35243).

The homecoming queen will be announced Friday, Oct. 27, at the UA pep rally beginning at 7 p.m. UA President Andrew Sorensen is scheduled to crown the queen during halftime of the homecoming football game between Alabama and Central Florida on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m.

UA students voted on the queen and her court from a selection of 24 candidates. Some 3,000 students voted in the election — a record turnout. Election officials attribute the increase in voting to the availability of electronic voting kiosks located across campus.

She serves as a senator from the College of Commerce and Business Administration in the UA Student Government Association.
