UA Holds Re-Carding Event To Introduce New Action Card

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — ACTion cardholders will have a chance to get a card with a different look when a new design is introduced in October.

All students, faculty and staff can exchange their current ACTion card for a new one during the re-carding event, Oct. 9-13 and Oct. 16-18, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day in 207A Student Services Center.

The new card will feature a picture of the Quad and will come with an optional AT&T long-distance calling card feature.

“We are excited to be expanding our program to include the optional AT&T calling card feature, and at the same time, the opportunity to enhance the design of the card to reflect our campus environment,” Jeanine Brooks, director of the ACTion Card office, said.

The new card design was the joint decision of the Student Government Association (SGA), University Relations and the ACTion Card Office.

“We considered several different designs, but in the end, we agreed that a picture that captured the beauty of our campus was the best design,” Emily McMurphy, SGA president, said.

During the re-carding period, AT&T personnel will be on hand to explain the optional long-distance calling card feature that can be added upon request. Coca-Cola is supporting the event with free Coke products during the first week. WVUA, the University’s radio station, will be on site during one day of the event.

“The re-carding event is voluntary, but we hope as many students and faculty/ staff as possible will participate in this event,” Brooks said. “The event itself will be fun, and we think everyone will appreciate the look of the new card.”
