Alabama Power’s Grill Named To UA Real Estate Center Board

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Larry R. Grill, general manager of materials management, corporate real estate, and conference and travel at Alabama Power Co., has been named to the 15-member board of trustees of the Alabama Real Estate Research and Education Center at The University of Alabama.

The board supports and assists the Alabama Real Estate Research and Education Center in conducting academic real estate research and providing professional and continuing education and technical assistance to the Alabama Real Estate Commission, as well as to the Alabama Association of Realtors, state and local governments, colleges, universities, and other educational institutions

Grill, who has been with Southern Company – the parent company of Alabama Power – for more than 30 years, has experience in management and technical positions in materials management, contracts, legal services, procurement and engineering. Before obtaining his current position at Alabama Power Co., he was the manager of contracts & legal services and assistant corporate secretary of Southern Company Services.

For 13 years, Grill was municipal judge of Kimberly, Ala. and alternate municipal judge for Warrior, Fultondale, Brookside and Pelham, Ala. Grill has a Juris Doctor from the Birmingham School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Auburn University.

He is a member of the Birmingham and Alabama State Bar associations, is on the board of directors of United Cerebral Palsy and is active in the Prescott House, a home for troubled youth. Grill and his wife Rosemary have four children and five grandchildren.

The University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration, founded in 1919, is home to the Alabama Real Estate Research and Education Center. The Center works with the Alabama Association of REALTORS, the Alabama Real Estate Commission and the research division of the National Association of REALTORS to compile a state housing affordability index each quarter.
