Bama Blast To Welcome UA’s New Students

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Freshmen at The University of Alabama will complete their orientation process at Bama Blast on Monday, Aug. 21, an event featuring live music, a pep rally, good food and a host of other activities.

The event will begin with the “ultimate icebreaker,” a welcome session led by the national organization Playfair at 11 a.m. on the UA Quad. Following lunch, students will attend information sessions on “Getting Involved,” “Secrets to Success,” “Community Standards” and “Technology at the Capstone.” Students will then experience the Crimson Tide spirit with a 5:30 p.m. Elephant Stomp from the Quad to Bryant-Denny Stadium.

At 6 p.m. Roll Tide Rock, a pep rally, features UA basketball coach Mark Gottfried, the Million Dollar Band, Big Al and the cheerleaders, along with welcomes from UA President Andrew Sorensen and SGA President Emily McMurphy. The University Supe Store will give away 14, $150 book scholarships during the pep rally.

Quadfest 2000, the last portion of Bama Blast, begins immediately after the pep rally and features free food from area restaurants, a band concert sponsored by University Programs and a fireworks finale (if weather permits).
