UA Student Media Leaders Selected for 2001-2002 Academic Year

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Media Planning Board of The University of Alabama has selected the final four new student leaders for two of its six student-run media.

Rebecca McIntyre of Tuscaloosa was named editor of Southern Historian. Mark Smith of Tuscaloosa was named the publication’s business manager. Both are Ph.D. candidates in the department of history. Southern Historian is a nationally distributed scholarly journal of history produced by doctoral candidates in the department of history. It has been published annually since 1980.

Matt Supko of Huntsville was named editor of Marr’s Field Journal. Stephanie Hudson of Birmingham (35223) was named the publication’s business manager. Both are undergraduate English majors. Marr’s Field Journal, which takes its name from the early 19th century name of what is now the UA campus, publishes the literary and artistic works of UA undergraduates. It is produced by UA undergraduates and has been published since 1991.

The Media Planning Board is an oversight body for the Office of Student Media. The board also hires student leaders for The Crimson White, the Corolla yearbook, WVUA-FM and Black Warrior Review. Those positions were announced earlier in the year.
