UA Student to Speak at International Geological Congress

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Doug Tinkham, a doctoral student in The University of Alabama department of geology from Monmouth, Ill., has been invited to give a keynote presentation at the International Geological Congress in Brazil in August.

Tinkham’s presentation is called “Unraveling the Relationships between Heating and Crustal Loading Using P-T Pseudosections: State of the Art and Perspectives.” He will be speaking in a session entitled “New Methods and Concepts Related to the Study of Metamorphic Rocks and Processes.”

Tinkham recently received a $1,400 grant from the Geological Society of America that will be used to help cover travel costs.
