UA College of Engineering to Host Mining Institute

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama College of Engineering will host the 2000 Alabama Mining Institute on May 18-19 in the Tom Bevill Energy, Mineral, and Materials Research Building, room 101.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 18. Sessions last until 4:30 p.m. both days. Registration cost is $40 for members of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME) and $60 for non-members. Registered professional engineers can satisfy their annual professional development hours by attending the sessions.

Speakers will include representatives from Alabama’s mining companies as well as state and federal regulatory agencies that deal with mining concerns.
