UA National Alumni Association Offers Voyage of the Vikings Cruise

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama National Alumni Association announces this yearís annual travel program Voyage of the Vikings, a never-before-offered cruise scheduled July 10-July 20.

The travel program is specially designed for alumni and friends of Southeastern Conference universities. The SEC Alumni Directors chose the tour, which traces the route of the fabled Norsemen from the fjords of Norway to Dublin, Ireland, through the ruggedly beautiful Scottish Isles.

After departing from Bergen, Norway, one day will be spent at Sognefjord, the worldís deepest and longest fjord. Then the cruise will set off across the North Sea for the Shetland Islands, where residents still celebrate their Viking heritage. Ruins of Stone Age settlements will be explored on the Orkney Islands.

The exploration continues as travelers visit the Islands of Lewis, Skye, Mull, Iona and Isle of Man. In each destination, shore excursions are available for purchase as guided tours visit ancient castles, country sides, prehistoric fortresses and Viking settlements. In addition, travelers can extend the Voyage of the Vikings with pre-and post-cruise programs in Bergen and Dublin.

Prices for the trip vary according to the selection of cabin category aboard the M.V. Kristina Regina. An early booking discount is available before April 15.
