UA’s Bankhead Writers Series to Feature Poets Halliday and Ellis

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Poets Mark Halliday and Thomas Sayers Ellis will be reading their work as part of The University of Alabama’s Bankhead Visiting Writers Series on Thursday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in 205 Smith Hall.

The event is free and open to the public Currently the director of the creative writing program at Ohio University, Halliday’s poems have appeared in numerous journals and magazines. His books include “Little Star,” selected for the National Poetry Series in 1987, “Tasker Street,” and most recently, “Selfwolf.”

A graduate of Harvard University, Ellis has edited “Standing on the Verge: Emerging Poets,” and his poetry has been included in “Take Three: The Agni Poets Series, No. 1.” He currently teaches in the English department at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Bankhead Visiting Writers Series is made possible by an endowment from the Bankhead Foundation, UA’s creative writing program, the department of English and the College of Arts and Sciences.
