Miss UA Pagent to be Feb. 19

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Action Civitan Club is sponsoring the 2000 Miss UA Pageant to be held Saturday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. on the UA campus in the Ferguson Center Ballroom.

This is the pageant’s 25th anniversary and there will be a reunion for former Miss UA winners after the event. Tickets are $5 for students/$10 for adults and may be purchased Feb.14-18 in the Ferguson Center lobby, or the night of the pageant.

Contestants will compete in the categories of private interview, swimsuit/physical fitness, talent and evening wear. The winner will represent UA at the Miss Alabama Pageant held in Birmingham in June.

Contestants for the Miss UA 2000 competition include:

-Amie Box, daughter of Danny Lee and Kathy Box of Parrish, a senior majoring in elementary education.

-Ashley Brown, daughter of Edward and Vickie Brown of Brent, a junior majoring in psychology with a minor in music.

-D’anne Cagle, daughter of Doug and Suzanne Cagle of Marietta, Ga.

-Ardra Coleman, daughter of Charlie and Jennifer Coleman of Vestavia Hills, a junior majoring in psychology with a minor in criminal justice.

-Ashley Cornelius, daughter of William and Carron Cornelius of Cherokee, a sophomore majoring in telecommunications and film with a minor in dance.

-Tamara Croom, daughter of Kelvin and Tracy Croom of Tuscaloosa, a freshman seeking a degree in biology.

-Elizabeth Deadman, daughter of Ray and Nancy Deadman of Hoover, a freshman seeking a degree in education.

-Wimberly Edwards, daughter of Mary Edwards and the late Parker Edwards of Greenville, a freshman pursuing a degree in vocal performance.

-Casey Elliot, daughter of Frank and Cathy Elliot of Jackson, Miss., pursuing a degree in music therapy.

-Catherine Loftin, daughter of Dave and Charlotte Loftin of Enterprise, a junior majoring in broadcast journalism with a minor in communication studies.

-Amanda Smith, daughter of Coleman and Susan Smith of Hartselle, seeking a degree in interior design and would like to pursue an architectural degree.

-Lelia Tarleton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Tarleton of Jackson, pursuing a degree in interior design.

-Emily Ann Wood, daughter of Philip and Marsha Wood of Prattville, seeking a degree in music performance.
