A Faculty Discussion of Diversity in America Post-Charlottesville.
Many students returning to campus this fall may have questions, concerns and fear about recent demonstrations at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and the University of California-Berkeley, as well as other related events from this summer. Faculty members are invited to participate in an open discussion about race, religion and politics in the U.S. following these events. In addition, faculty members will discuss how to address students’ concerns; covering the topics of racism, religious persecution, and varying political positions in classes; and devising strategies to promote social work values on campus and in the surrounding community. Faculty members are welcome to stay and participate in a student discussion from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. following the faculty forum.
Lunch will be provided.
