Rarely do students with disabilities have the opportunity to showcase their abilities. To begin erasing the unfortunate linkage between disability and deficiency that often marks their identity, it is helpful to reorient how we look at these students. The CrossingPoints Program (CPP), The University of Alabama’s on-campus collaborative transition program for students with disabilities (ages 18-21 years), will be hosting its Second Annual Dinner Theater. The event, featuring CrossingPoints' student-actors, will showcase CPP student talents as they explore and develop new ones, providing both actors and audience members an exciting take on The Wizard of Oz. All funds raised through the Dinner Theater will promote the merging of arts and special education by helping CrossingPoints students to engage in artistic ventures during the school year and summer.
