Date: Saturday, January 14, 2017
Time: 09:00 AM - 03:00 PM
Location: Back field near Children's Garden and Communi Arboretum
The UA Arboretum is participating in a Treestuff Party. This is where the company Treestuff will lend a couple of bags of tree climbing equipment for people to try out. Most of it will be oriented towards tree care professionals and there will be a number of tree care professionals in attendance to try out that equipment and look at different methods of climbing. This area will be restricted to tree care professionals only due to safety concerns.
However, Treestuff will also be sending some recreational climbing gear for non-professional adults and children to use to climb in the trees to get a feel for what it is like. The participants will use ropes and harnesses and other equipment to safely ascend into the canopy of a couple of trees. This will be at the “Minnie Sellers Shelter” at Bowers Park in Tuscaloosa. The address is 2101Bowers Park Dr Tuscaloosa, AL 35405. Recreational tree climbing is pretty big in other parts of the country but it’s not that big here. We are hoping that gaining a different perspective by climbing in the trees will inspire people to enjoy the outdoors more and value the rich natural resources that Alabama has to offer.
The event starts at 9 AM on 1/14/17 and ends at 3 PM. If you have any questions or need further information please contact the Arboretum Caretaker Joseph Wright.
