This event brings together three leading scholars in the histories of gender and slavery in the Americas. They will discuss their past work on enslaved women’s experiences as well as their current projects dealing with the trauma and loss embedded in the commodification of human beings. Moderated by Jenny Shaw, Associate Professor of History, the event will take place on the evening of March 26, 2020 at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center in downtown Tuscaloosa. It will be free and open to the public, and to all UA students and faculty.
