The University of Alabama Gallery is proud to present the photographs of acclaimed photographer Jerry Siegel. Stompin’ Grounds- Photography by Jerry Siegel celebrates the region that has left a distinctive imprint on Siegel’s life and work, the Black Belt region of Alabama. The exhibition runs November 1 through January 17, 2020.
Born in Selma, Alabama, Jerry Siegel lives in Atlanta, Georgia, and works throughout the Southeast. Siegel focuses his work on the traditions of portrait and documentary photography.
His first monograph, Facing South, Portraits of Southern Artists, was published by the University of Alabama Press and features portraits of 100 Southern artists.
Siegel’s work is in many public, private and corporate collections including the High Museum of Art; Georgia Museum of Art, Athens; Birmingham Museum of Art; MOCA GA; Ogden Museum of Southern Art; The Do Good Fund; Jepson Center and Morris Museum.
Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-4:00 pm and First Friday Events, noon-8:00 pm. We are closed major holidays and school holidays.
