Woman in a Dress showcases recreated dresses that once belonged to Amelia Gayle Gorgas, an Alabama native who became the postmistress, nurse matron, and librarian at The University of Alabama. Also on display are pieces from one of the original dresses, four interactive tablets with additional information on the process and history of the pieces, a hands-on station with recreated fabric, and a poster recently presented at a national conference. The exhibit is a collaborative effort between the Department of Clothing, Textiles, and Design within the College of Human Environmental Sciences and the Gorgas House Museum.
