The minor in African-American studies is an interdisciplinary program of study in African-American culture and the African-American experience. The objectives of the program are to foster a wider understanding of the struggles and achievements of African Americans, both in the context of the broad patterns of American life and within the global context of the African diaspora, and to provide an introduction to the methods appropriate to interdisciplinary cultural studies.
